Simone Scholtz, who graduated with the MA in 2011, is developing plans for a new multimedia company in Africa. The project is led by Felix Masi, a former photojournalist from Kenya’s The Standard Group of Newspapers who is currently a documentary photographer/filmmaker based in Congo-Kinshasa. Andrew Esiebo, a potojournalist/filmmaker based in Nigeria and Ken Oloo, a US-trained film producer/multimedia editor and founder of “Filamu Juani” (Hotsun Films) from Kenya.

ZAZU-African multimedia is designed to to tell local feature stories aimed at smart phones and mobile devices. You can read more about their plans through their application for an African News Innovation Challenge grant, or via their Facebook page.
